Garage Door Weatherstripping on a residential garage door in the Barrie area

Garage Door Weatherstripping

Bottom seals, stop moulding and jamb seals replaced against Barrie winters.

About this service

Weather seals are the cheapest part of a garage door and the first thing a Simcoe County winter finds. When the bottom astragal hardens and cracks, snow drifts under the door, meltwater runs onto the slab and the garage never warms up.

We replace bottom seals, perimeter stop moulding, jamb seals and top seals, and check that the door closes level to the floor so the new seal actually makes contact across the full width instead of only at one end.

Warning signs

  • Daylight, snow or leaves visible under the closed door
  • Water running onto the garage floor after a thaw
  • The bottom seal is cracked, flattened or torn away
  • Drafts and cold air in a room above or beside the garage

How It Works

The garage door weatherstripping process

01

Assess the closure

We check how squarely the door meets the floor and where daylight is showing.

02

Correct the close

Cable tension and travel are adjusted so the door lands level across the opening.

03

Fit new seals

Bottom astragal, jamb stop and top seal are replaced with profiles matched to the door.

04

Verify the seal

The door is closed and checked along the full perimeter for gaps and contact.

FAQ

Garage Door Weatherstripping questions

Still unsure? Call (647) 493-8072 or email info@suregaragerepair.ca.

Usually the door is closing out of level because of uneven cable tension, or the concrete slopes. Both are addressed before fitting new seal, otherwise the gap comes straight back.

On a driveway that drains toward the garage, a floor threshold combined with a good bottom seal makes a real difference to water getting in.

It depends on sun exposure, salt and how cold the door gets. Bottom seals are a wear item, and replacing one is a small job compared with the water damage it prevents.
